frequently asked questions
What should we wear?
Good choices in clothing is one of the key elements of a great photo session! For group sessions, clothing should be coordinated. It is not necessary that everyone match exactly, just make sure the colors tie in together. Favorites are jeans or khaki pants, combined with tan, black or neutral colored shirts or sundresses. Large, busy prints, checkered patterns and geometric designs take the focus away from the subject and should only be used in small accessories or details.
As you plan your outfits, keep the location in mind. You want the clothing choices and the photo setting to compliment each other. You want to make sure that the colors and patterns you choose fit well in the environment that you have selected.
It may be easier to first choose the location for your session and then plan outfits around that location. Let's talk before the session if you have any questions.
Before the Session
We will talk about where we will photograph your session and come up with the best location. I want it to be somewhere meaningful to you, but if you need some ideas, I have many favorite places to suggest. Leading up to your session, we will keep an eye on the weather forecast, and if we feel the session needs to be moved earlier, or later in the day, or even re-scheduled, we will make that change. Plan on an hour for your session but know that it could go a little less or a little more.
After the Session
A week after your session, I will email you a link to your photos. You will be able to forward the link to anyone you wish, so everyone can have a chance to choose which photos they would like. Your photos will be available to you for 10 days, so you have plenty of time to decide on your favorites. We will make an appointment to go over your choices and select the ones that you love. I will help you every step of the way and offer you ideas that I believe will be the best fit for you.
Just Have Fun
Please feel at ease during your session. If pressured to "smile", natural expressions may be lost. Many of the great images that I capture are the "in-between" shots, when you are relaxed and less aware of the camera.
Some of my favorite moments are when you are engaging with each other and forget that I'm there. Definitely don't stress over your session! This is a fun time so just relax, smile, laugh, hug, kiss, and have a great time!
Is there a deposit?
For weddings, a deposit is required to reserve your date.
For portrait sessions, the session fee is due at the time of the session.
What does the session fee include?
The session fee includes our time together, the creative editing and retouching of the photographs and an on line gallery for ten days.
Please note that the session fee covers my time and talent and does not include photographic prints, digital images or products. Please email me for a complete pricing list.
What do I need to do to book a session?
You can either email me, or give me a call, and we can discuss the location and time for your session. At that time, we can also work out all the details, so that on the day of your session, you'll be relaxed and ready to have fun! Keep in mind that the BEST time is in the sweet light of day, so let's start about an hour before sunset.
What if I'm not photogenic?
There's no need to stress, you're not alone with your feelings. As long as you're relaxed and having fun, you're going to look great! I promise I will do my best to keep you laughing and at ease. Most people are surprised at how much fun it actually is!
I have a zit, will we have to re-schedule?
No, Photoshop makes me the Dermatologist of cyberspace.
Let's have fun and, together, create the best photos for you!
